After putting on his pair of Australian sheepskin boots after a chilly late-night surf in Malibu, Smith realized sheepskin boots weren't available in the United States like they were in Australia, giving Smith the idea to create UGG. UGG specializes in footwear, ready-to-wear, accessories, and home textiles.

1. Brand & Aesthetics
UGG is well known in the fashion industry. The brands tends to be regarded in the "love them or hate them" manner. People often mistakenly believe that the brand is Australian - partially incorrect. The company's founders are Australian, but were living in the United States at the time of UGG's formation. Regardless, the Australian heritage has stuck, and seems to be a benefit for the brand.
The aesthetics of UGG's slippers are often very bold. The brand doesn't shy away from bright colours, and their products often draw your attention.
2. Construction
This particular slipper features a very thick sole, made of foam. The heel is supported by a thick, yet comfortable, elastic band. The rest of the slipper is very soft and offers a plush feeling for the feet.
These shoes are listed as "Made in Vietnam". Quality seems to be very good - stitching is well done, there are no obvious defects or areas of concern, and both slippers appear very uniform to each other.

3. Ordering Experience
These slippers were purchased in-person at the McArthurGlen Vancouver Designer Outlet Mall, a short distance from the Vancouver International Airport in British Columbia. The store is a traditional retail experience, and the staff were very friendly and quick to help.
4. Comfort
The exceptionally high soles make it seem like they would be uncomfortable or difficult to walk in. This was, fortunately, not the case at all. While it does take a little bit of getting used to, these slippers are very comfortable and walking isn't an issue after a few minutes of getting used to them. They are also a very snug fit, given the thick elastic heel band, so there is no concern with them slipping off unexpectedly.
Sole height
The plush material feels soft on bare feet, and while you do have to be a bit careful not to get it dirty, you end up being fairly "care free" about them. This is one of the great things about a product like UGG, you can easily enjoy them without worrying too much about being careful and preserving them.
5. Cost
Given that these were purchased at an Outlet Mall (and therefore, an UGG "Outlet" location), they were very affordable. Retail list price was indicated to be $239.00 CDN. This was reduced to $159.00 CDN for the Outlet location. On top of this, there was a sale on for an additional 40% off the reduced price. This brought the slippers down to just under $100.00 CDN. An absolutely exceptional value, and really a no-brainer when it comes to making a purchasing decision.
6. Final Thoughts
Even at regular retail pricing, these slippers are definitely worth their cost. They are comfortable, stylish, and definitely worth having in one's wardrobe. Add in the Outlet discounted pricing? There's very little decision making required at this point. These are an absolute must-have.
